For a healthy smoothie, make it full of nutrients!

This recipe works so well because it combines all sorts of delicious ingredients that are also very nutritious.

To begin, the cocoa powder in this smoothie does much more than just add a chocolaty flavor. Cocoa is full of antioxidants and polyphenols, both of which are important in helping your body fight off disease, inflammation, and oxidative stress.

Almond milk, on the other hand, is a healthy non-dairy choice that has a sweet and nutty flavor. It is also low in fat and low in calories, with a relatively good amount of protein. Other milk options you can use include coconut milk, cashew milk, or oat milk.

When it comes to protein powder, try using chocolate flavor. Some good options for types of protein include pea protein, whey protein, rice protein, and chickpea protein. Protein powder does not have to be unpleasant, it can also be very tasty and extremely easy to use. Adding a bit of protein to your smoothie makes it instantly that much healthier.

Finally, the Medjool dates are a great source of fiber and flavor! If you want your smoothie to help with digestion, you should consider adding dates too. Plus, these always add texture as well.

As for the xanthan gum, you may be wondering why to add it at all? You can use it to create a thicker texture that is creamier too. Mix everything in your blender until you get a smooth texture, adding ice when necessary. Serve cold and enjoy! Try this choco smoothie after a workout, for an extra boost in protein!
