By now you may know that sea moss is a superfood that many crave. This natural algae happens to contain a ton of nutrients, which makes it a perfect addition to healthy foods. You can probably find sea moss at your local health store or organic market.

While many places sell sea moss in gel form, you may also find it in its natural form. In which case, you should prepare it ahead of time. Start by rinsing and cleaning it from any dirt. You can then soak the sea moss for a full 24 hours at room temperature. After the day has passed, rinse the sea moss again, and change the water. Soak for another 4-6 hours. Your sea moss should become translucent.

Once the sea moss is ready, add it to a blender with water and blend until the texture is creamy. Save this gel-like sea moss in the fridge so it thickens into a gel.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz prepared irish moss

  • 4 cups almond milk

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 4-6 medjool dates, pitted

  • 2-4 tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

  • a pinch of Himalayan pink crystal salt

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1 dash cinnamon

  • 1 dash nutmeg

Directions

  • Put all ingredients into blender.
  • Pulse on high setting until smooth.
  • Transfer to a drinking glass.
  • Enjoy!

  • You can adjust the amount of moss to make the smoothie thicker.
