The Many Health Benefits Of A Pineapple And Greek Yogurt Smoothie

So how does this smoothie benefit your liver health? Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients. The first one is pineapple, and the element responsible for the excellent taste you’ll get.

All fruits, especially those high in vitamin C, are great for your liver. But pineapple is even better. How is that possible?

It contains something called bromelain. This component is responsible for flushing toxins out the right way. And that’s precisely what your liver needs! Not to mention, pineapple helps with digestion. For the sake of your digestive tract, you should try this smoothie, at least once.

Now let’s see what role the Greek yogurt plays in this. Dairy is usually out from fatty liver remedies and diets. But yogurt, and mainly Greek yogurt, doesn’t follow the rule. Why?

First of all, because it is a promoter of flushing toxins from your body, just like pineapple. And second of all, Greek yogurt is a superior source of protein. Since it has less fat than other dairy products, here’s your ally for liver health.

Add a bit of ginger to this recipe, to make it even more powerful. The results won’t hesitate to appear.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple

  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)

  • 1/3 cup milk

  • 1/2 inch ginger (grated)

  • 1 cup filtered water

  • ice cubes

  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar (optional)

Directions

  • Add all ingredients, except the ginger, into your blender.
  • Pulse on high setting until smooth.
  • Add ginger (see note below).
  • Blend and taste.
  • Transfer to a suitable drinking glass.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure to grate your ginger really finely so you don’t end up chewing on raw ginger bits.
  • I usually use a garlic grater to reduce my ginger to a “paste” consistency.
  • The heat in ginger may vary, so don’t add all the ginger in at once. I usually put in 1/2 to 2/3 of the ginger, blend, and taste.
  • If I feel like a “hotter” smoothie, I will add some more ginger, pulse a few times and taste again.
