This delicious cocoa detox smoothie is a nice and creamy smoothie. In fact, it tastes sweet and chocolaty, almost like chocolate-covered strawberries.

However, it is important that you use the right kind of chocolate. Choose a high-quality brand of dark cocoa powder which is sugar-free and has low caffeine content.

Dark cocoa can be a bit bitter so you could add a drizzle of honey to your smoothie if you prefer it sweeter. However, the strawberries and coconut milk should add more than enough sweetness to this delicious smoothie.

As you probably know, coconut milk can be high in calories. However, I do occasionally like to treat myself to this delicious smoothie.

Detoxing can be hard and you do deserve a treat now and again!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dark cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (preferably unsweetened)

  • 5 1/2 oz strawberries

  • 1/2 cup crushed ice (optional)

Directions

  • Add the strawberries to your blender
  • Add the dark cocoa powder
  • Pour over the coconut milk
  • Blend well until you reach a smoothie consistency
  • Pour into a suitable drinking container (alternatively, pour over crushed ice)

Notes

  • You can use either fresh or frozen strawberries for this recipe. If you are using fresh strawberries, wash them slightly before adding them to the blender.

    Frozen strawberries can go straight from the freezer and into the blender.

    If I use fresh strawberries, I like to hold back just one or two, slice them and sprinkle them on top once the smoothie has been poured into a glass.

    For a slightly thinner smoothie, you can add some purified water. However, if you use crushed ice, the ice will water down the smoothie as it melts.
